If you don't know who the person is, why are you accepting them as a ';friend'; and allowing them to see your profile, pics, etc.?If Facebook is intended to connect with people you KNOW, how is it that people MEET others on the application?
Well, you can meet other people by joining fan pages or groups. You might read a comment or post someone puts on a group wall, make a comment about it, and the next thing you know, you have a new friend. You might also make friends with friends of your friends. (You follow that? Heh.)
Someone might see your limited profile and send you a message. That's another way.If Facebook is intended to connect with people you KNOW, how is it that people MEET others on the application?
Facebook, as with all social networking sites, is just a tool for communication. Whether you just are there for people you already know, or if you're there to meet people, is up to you. Everyone is going to handle it differently.
Your FB (same with any social network site) profile is visible to everyone on the internet unless you adjust your settings and make it private.
Naivete is one reason. Or maybe just immaturity.
Never tell a stranger...even one you ';friend';...anything that could let them track you down...financially or physically. Social networking sites should be considered the Land of the Uncontrolled Stalkers/Perverts/Scammers. Sure, most people are decent and are just looking for some human interaction. We don't have to worry about them. But the few creeps? Worry bigtime. And how can you tell the difference? You CAN'T! So don't tell anyone anything personal that could let them track you down.
It can be fun to chat, but consider it a fantasy world full of wizards and gremlins. And don't let the gremlins get you!
When you go to your friend's profile pages, you can see everyone they are friends with. Obviously you don't know all of your friend's friends. People can also suggest that you become friends with someone because maybe they think you tow have something in common.
