join community service groups/volunteer, join friendster or myspace, craigslist.org and you can also join meetin.org(a site to help connect people from different cities)
It takes a lot of courage to put yourself out there, but it's definitely worth it!
im really shy to. try to go to community things. or get to know people around your neighborhood.
