I am writing an essay on how we are similar because we both find it hard to connect with people we do not know but I am not exactly sure why it is so hard for him?
HELP PLEASE?Why does Holden Caulfield find it hard to connect with people in society?
He feels that most people his own age and older are fake or phonies(as he calls them). He believes the people in his society are all rich materialistic people. Which is what he does not want to be, but he is a hypocrite in pointing out the faults of his society when he himself also shares these faults.Why does Holden Caulfield find it hard to connect with people in society?
The real reason is because he uncomfortable with himself. He doesn't trust himself, and really, if you can't trust even yourself, who CAN you be comfortable with?
