How can I connect to people when we have nothing in common?

Most people my age prefer watching Hollywood blockbusters and vapid comedies. I like foreign films and obscure character pieces. Everyone listens to popular music. I like experimental rock, classical, and jazz. Everyone has crushes on boy hearthrobs and macho men. I have crushes on middle aged Irish and British actors. Everyone goes out to get wasted at the bar. I attempt to extrapolate a pattern for a 1913 cocoon coat or else go to the library to read up on Francis Bacon or Anais Nin. I have nothing to talk about with people my age. Most of them don't talk to me. They'll ask me what I did on the weekend. I'll answer that I watched La Reine Margot and just get a blank stare. I love my little passions, but can't find anyone like me!. I'm 22 and have just graduated universityHow can I connect to people when we have nothing in common?
You will, be true to yourself don't change! xoxHow can I connect to people when we have nothing in common?
No offense, but you could have said you watched a foreign film, which would have let the conversation go on another 2 sentences.

I think that for now you need to find groups of foreign film lovers,

philosophy, etc. and not worry much about who is in your age group.

I find you to be a very interesting and cultured person. Show the people the beauty of who you are, and hopefully one day you'll meet someone who'll find you unique yet interesting to know. Not necessarily like you, but likes you anyways.
Simple solution: Don't hang around people your age. Hang out with older more sophisticated people.

BTW, you have some very cool tastes. Don't be ashamed of it. If people don't get you screw them. Find people that do.
There is something in common with everybody. You just have to find it.

Perhaps if you are looking for similarities between people, you could open your mind to the ideas that:

Everyone is stuck here on earth

Everyone is trying to make it and just get by

Everyone is trying to find their true identity

Everyone would like to find someone with common interests

The fact is that as humans, we share many common things just by virtue of our existence. We just have to open our minds to the greater commoness we all share.

You have some eclectic tastes that may not be mainstream. Perhaps you like that?!? Do you enjoy feeling different?

I think if you are really searching for someone with these common intersts you should try to find a club. But beware, you may discover that others which such interests may be boring or one dimensional to you. It may be better to search for the opposite!
